Graham decided 2 weeks ago that he no longer wanted to eat pureed foods and has been on all solids even since. He eats just about anything. Right now he is eating bananas, cheerios, yogurt, applesauce, zucchini, tomotoes, sweet potato, chicken, beans, mushrooms, broccoli, peas, carrots, pasta, cheese, toast and more! I am really happy that right now he is eating veggies and seems to like them. I am hoping that he keeps it up. I am trying to offer him anything I can think of (including things I don't like). He is down to only nursing 3 times a day which is a big change for us. In about a month I can start offering him whole milk in a sippy to substitute the daytime nursing and see how he likes that.
He is busier than ever these days. He has learned to climb the stairs and is totally obsessed with anything Morgan . . . food, water, toys, her TAIL . . . Morgan may seriously be the most patient dog alive. He climbs all over her and plays with her tail and paws while she just sits there ignoring him. She has been getting special treats and toys lately for being such a good girl.
He is still taking a few steps here and there but is not too interested in that being his main form of transportation. He crawls very fast so I think that is more convenient for him. He has started clapping and will say "cap, cap, cap" (clap) when he does it. He also says hi when he waves. Grandma and Grandpa got him a toy that sings for Valentines Day and he hums along with the song it plays which is really cute.
Work is getting increasingly difficult because of his mobility, but thank goodness I only have 3 days left and then I will not be tied to my computer anymore. Next week I can get started on planning his b-day party. That is all for now!

Communication
Graham has had some new accomlishments . . . he is now waving bye-bye, signs milk and is crawling like a speed demon. In fact he tries to crawl so fast sometimes that his hands get caught up and he plunges face first into the ground. All 4 teeth in the front are in (2 on top and 2 on the bottom) and they look so cute. I am just beginning to see the top ones when he smiles. He is still practicing taking a few steps here and there, but would much rather crawl.
It is so nice to know that he understands some of what I am saying. I am pretty darn sure he knows "no" because he crawls faster to get whatever I am saying no about. I try really hard not to use the word no all the time and use things like "yucky" or "not yours" but its is hard! He has started sharing which is so cute. He offers his slobbery food to you. He also offers his toys to you, but then quickly decides against it and takes them back. He totally cracks Dave and I up all the time!!

Standing and taking steps!
Seems like recently Graham's development has exploded! He started crawling, standing on his own, pulling up on things and trying to take steps. All of this happened in the past 3 weeks! In fact I can barely write this because in the time it took to type the 1st 2 sentences Graham has hit his heat, grabbed my water glass, and has pulled himself up into a precarious position on the music table. Life is changing around here that much I know! It is so rewarding and exciting to see Graham develop and learn new things, but it does make me sad that he is not a "baby" anymore. I miss those days when he was itty bitty and smelled like a baby. Now most of the time he smells like peach puffs and little boy :)
Graham is doing better with his solids. He is eating overcooked carrots, yogurt (yes, we have outgrown our dairy allergy-yay!), puffs, banana, and some other mushy things. We are still getting a lot of his nutrition through purees (and breastmilk of course) for now. He also has 3 teeth now (2 on top and 1 on bottom). Soon he is going to look like a boy not a baby!
I would love to write more, but the little tornado calls . . .

We have a tooth!
Today at Gymboree Graham was gumming my knuckle and I felt something sharp . . . sure enough he has a tooth poking through on the top left. Most kids get their 2 bottom teeth first, but not Graham. He is going to look so different with teeth! My little boy is growing up way too fast.
He also has started to stand on his own for up to 10 seconds at a time. He is loving walking in his walker or by holding onto your hands. He learned to sit up from a laying down position. This is nice because when he is sick of being on his belly he can do something about it. However, he barely ever tries crawling anymore because he just sits back up. Today he moved forward a little bit in the crawling position with one knee and his hands. I thought he was going to crawl for a second, but then he sat up. Graham received his 1st Valentine today from Sage in his class. So cute :)

One forward step . . .
for Graham! He finally figured out how to walk in his walker. He started it last night a little bit and now this morning he is walking around the kitchen, opening cabinet doors, pulling off the dishtowels, going into the bathroom . . . I knew he would love it as soon as he figured it out. He has been dying to be mobile for a while now and this finally gives him a way. Plus, he loves to walk so this will be lots of practice without breaking Mommy and Daddy's back in the process.
He also learned how to go from his knees to a sitting position last night. This will be very nice for me since he always gets ticked off when he can't get off his stomach. I am sure it will be a while until he actually can do it consistently when he wants. I just can't believe how many new things he is learning day to day. His all time favorite right now is peek-a-boo. Hinges and Thumbs
Every child has a favorite teddy bear, lovey, or toy . . . well my son has a strange favorite thing. Every morning when I go in to get him he rubs his eyes and then starts anxiously looking for it. For what you might ask . . . the hinge on his crib. It gets the first smile every morning and after every nap. He also loves the doorknob, buttons, zippers, rivets, etc. Anything that is made of shiny metal has Graham's number. Dave thinks that this means he is going to be an engineer, but I have had to remind Dave that this could also mean he could be a mechanic, trashcollector, assembly worker, etc. (all of which we will be perfectly fine with of course as long as he is happy). No really though, I wonder if that means something? I guess only time will tell as he starts choosing his toys and playing games. If he starts constructing complex buildings out of Lego's then I might be convinced of the engineer thing.
On another note, I am running into an issue with Graham. How can a child crawl with a thumb in his mouth? Almost every time he gets up on his knees he is propped up on one elbow because he needs to have the thumb in his mouth. I have tried explaining to him that it is impossible to crawl with two knees, one hand and one elbow, but he does not listen (I am convinced he must have heard about that dog that walks around on its back legs). All of the things I have read say to not take their thumb out of their mouth or make it an issue because it will only make them want it more and eventually it will pass on its own. I am not so sure. I would venture to say that the thumb is here to stay. Well, he is definitely his mothers child as my mom reminded me. I sucked my thumb until I was seven and even then only gave it up because my Mom tried some potion that is supposed to make it taste bad. I would have just sucked that stuff right off and kept going, but unfortunately for me I had an allergic reaction and my thumb blew up which made it impossible to suck. That was the end of thumb sucking for me. I can only hope that Graham's thumb sucking ends much more pleasantly (and before the age of 7!).

I am blogging . . . really?
My step-sis Marisa is going to make such fun of me for starting a blog! However, the way I see it is I am on my computer so often and it is much easier to keep up with what is going on in our lives on here that keeping a journal. Plus, this way I can start to keep track of all of Graham's developments and new tricks . . . which seem constant these days!
First, I will say that I have the BEST little guy. He is 8.5 months old now and he is sweet, cuddly, caring (yes, he already feeds me his food), talkative, smiley . . . the list really could go on and on. He sleeps really well. He goes down at 6:30pm and normally sleeps until 6:30am. He gets up and talks to himself throughout the night, but is always able to put himself back to sleep. Thank heavens for thumbs! On that note, he is an avid thumb sucker. When he does not know what to do he is either sucking his thumb or running his fingers up and down over his lips to make a silly sound (my little clown).
He really is into Morgan these days. Whenever he spots her he smiles real big. I think she is going to be in a lot of trouble as soon as he figures out how to crawl. He is trying desperately to crawl, but no luck. He has been rocking on all fours for about 6 weeks now and just can not get going which he finds VERY frustrating. He is able to scoot backwards, but that puts him away from the toy and does not make him very happy. Soon enough though . . . I really am in no rush since as soon as he figures it out I will be chasing him everywhere and having to clean the floors more regularly ;)
Currently, I am back to work. Work called me and asked that I help them out while someone is out on maternity leave. I really could not turn it down since they said Graham could stay home with me and we could use the money. It actually has not been that bad. It is not as busy as I had thought it would be which leaves me more time with my little man. I am able to juggle work while he is down for naps or busily muching on some Puffs. Plus, Dave is home and able to help me out when I have a conference call. I am excited for it to be over, but am grateful for the opportunity to earn some extra cash which having my Grahammy with me.
Uncle Brian came to visit last night, which is always so fun. I know I always look forward to it because it consists of dinner, a few beers and lots of laughs. Plus, he got to visit with the Grahamster. Graham was little hesitant of Brian at first but warmed up to him nicely by the end of the night. Uncle Brian tried to show Graham how to crawl but to no avail. He even read Graham 2 bedtime stories which Graham just loved.
I did want to write about our trip to Target the other day because it was just too funny. Graham had been running errands with us for about an hour already and was due for a nap, but he is always a trooper when out and about and really does love to run errands with me. Anyway, I put him in his stroller at Target because Dave had to buy some bins for storage. Well, almost the whole time we were wheeling around Target Graham insisted on sitting spread eagle. All of these nice people are walking by staring at Graham because he has his legs spread wide open holding his feet and smiling at people. I got a few 'wow, he is flexible' comments. The pose was a site to see but was cracking Dave and I up. He is such a clown!!!!
Lastly, before I sign off of my first blogging session I wanted to say that I was so excited this morning while feeding Graham breakfast. I have been working on signing with Graham since he started solids at 5 months. I got more consistent with him around 7 months when he really got into soldis and was eating them more regularly. Well, we have been signing "finished" and "all done" this whole time after the end of every meal. Yesterday when Uncle Brian was here he started signing "finished". He was not doing it at the right time though (doing it while eating and wanting more) and I was not really sure it was voluntary. Well, this morning he did finished at the right time and really meant it! It was so exciting! he looked so proud of himself when I took the food away like he had really gotten his point across. Now, I have even more motivation to keep up with the other signs we have been working on which include Mommy, Daddy, more, milk, tired, and eat. Once we start gettting some of the basics we will expand to new signs. I just love that he can actually communicate with me.
